Raise the Roof Designs: Purveyors of Needlework Oddities

Hailed by critics as "sick," "demented," "in serious need of psychotherapy," and most recently "shameless," Raise the Roof Designs is quickly becoming a household name. We hope in the future to be a name in several households.

Sue Rainer and Theresa Venette believe that needlework can be more than the same ol' pumpkin, snowman, and flower over and over again. We're working hard to bring you something different. We hope our sense of humor shows through in all that we create. These designs are available to stitchers through Shakespeare's Peddler, but check with your local shop first; we're distributed by Hoffman Distributing, Wichelt Imports, Norden Crafts and The Nordic Needle. If you have questions, comments, ideas or suggestions for Raise the Roof Designs, contact us at raisetheroofdesigns@yahoo.com. We'd love to hear from you!

NEWS

Here are our latest designs...please note...I made an official boatload of mistakes on the This is Christmas graph. So, while it is very cute, it is very flawed. To help those of you who got first-run graphs of this one, I have uploaded a pdf file here for you to download, print off and use as a reference. So sorry. Have no idea how I made so many goofs. It was late in the game before market, and I guess I had officially lost what was left of my head! Doh!

Halloween Towne is available through Crescent Colours (shops can order from Sharon directly). It is not available as just a graph, but it does come with the silks. The button pack and fabric you add separately. We tried to keep the costs down, since the economy is, well, you know! Shops tell me this is selling well, and it's very cute in the custom frame Sharon did for us.

I hadn't planned on making this a series, but "This is Halloween" did so well, I guess there will be more! This is Christmas turned out very cute in kind of retro pinks, reds, mint greens...there's lots to look at in this one, and of course you could use the various motifs for smaller projects.

Sue had only made, oh, about a hundred or so of the first one, and it sold out before I could even get any for MY shop! She found some more trim (a slightly different color scheme), and re-stitched the model, and well, now there are more. It's a very cute little project!

Sue had a lot of fun designing this one. She had picked up some limited run Belle Soie silks at market last year, and then found some awesome moon buttons in the SamSarah Designs booth, and voila! A fun little sampler with a surprise -- you don't know what color button you're going to get, AND the button comes wrapped in a mystery fortune!!!

Vera Tuber is Sue's addition to the "Jenny Bean" sampler series. A good friend of Jenny's, Vera is fond of potatoes, don't you know. A cute little pattern, and done in memory of Sue's aunt Vera, who was from...Idaho!

I love the Just Another Button Company "Just Pins" sets, and this is the second set of little seasonal pincushions I've designed just to display the pins. I put a few buttons on these two, and I really like the way they turned out. I backed them with just various scraps of linen, and I like that they don't match.

This was another limited edition kit type of thing, but people loved the little design, so I released it as just a graph. You can make it into a pincushion, frame it, make a needlebook, an ornament, or whatever. It's just something fun with two colors of thread. What could be easier?
